Roots & Wings Learning C.I.C. is a social enterprise, with any profits being reinvested into developing services and supports for children, young people and their adults. As a Community Interest Company, we have a board of directors who are responsible for overseeing all decision-making and strategic direction.

Our Founder/Director Sarah is an experienced additional needs and nurture teacher, with a 15 year career working across both mainstream and specialist settings, including a residential and secure care setting and in a local-authority wide support role.

Sarah is trained in nurture and holds a Masters in Professional Practice in Education, specialising in Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), Attachment and Trauma-informed Practice.

Sarah is author of the book ‘Creating a Trauma-informed Classroom’ released in April 2024 by Critical Publishing. The book has been signposted in Education Scotland’s ‘Keeping Trauma in Mind’ course for 2024/25 and is available on reading lists at some Scottish universities. It has been endorsed and recommended by many organisations including Trauma Informed Schools UK (TISUK), nurtureuk and Scottish Attachment in Action.
